Talking with mark rep Karina Huizar

As fall approaches, M.L.T.S. talks with top mark. representatives about their involvement with the company and their fashion and beauty picks for fall. mark., for those of you who don’t know, is an Avon company aimed at a younger clientele. Known for working with such celebrities as Lauren Conrad, the company is dedicated not only to  philanthropy, mark. is a company dedicated to helping college-aged girls make money and learn important business skills while they are in school. If you are interested in becoming a mark. representative, you can apply here. Today, you’ll hear from Karina Huizar.

M.L.T.S.: Can you tell us a little more about you?

Karina Huizar: I am 22 years old and I am currently going to school (Victor Valley Community College; VVC) to become a Pre-school teacher- ultimately becoming a Child Psychologist.  Although, I am interested in psychology; I am very much the girly- girl that loves all things beauty/fashion. I also have a part time job, enjoy selling my paintings/artwork, I volunteer at my local Boy’s and Girl’s Club, and run my mark. business.

M.L.T.S.: How did you hear about the mark. program and get involved? How long ago was it that you got involved?

KH:   I met mark. through my mother (an admired AVON Lady).  I was very intrigued by the message that they were trying to send out to young women all over the nation.  I finally signed up to be a mark. rep in November 2009; I wanted to be a part of a company that recognized me as a young independent woman. I wanted to learn how to run my own business.

M.L.T.S.: What have you learned or accomplished while involved in the program?

KH:  I’ve learned to become more independent. I’m also not afraid anymore to take a big step in a direction I never would have imagined. For instance; My self esteem has taken a complete 360 degree turn. Once I was shy to even take a picture- I now have my own YouTube Channel and dedicate it to my mark. business and everything that revolves around it.

I also accomplished a goal of $2,000 in sales earlier this year.  As a reward; mark. flew me out to New York for the National Sales Meeting. (It was my first time on a plane) Thank you Mark.

My regional manager; has recently made me a Mentor Assistant.

M.L.T.S.: How do you think you’ll be involved with this in the next few years? Is this something that you’ve been told might lead to a full-time job later?

KH: In the next few years; I can definitely see myself as a MENTOR  for the area that I live in. I love guiding other women to build their business. As well as give them tips and ideas on how to achieve high sales by throwing mark. parties. With this company; there are many opportunities for a career in the future.

M.L.T.S.: What’s your favorite part of this?

KH:  I love how you can take this business and COMPLETELY make it your own. You’re your own boss. You set the time and date. You can grow as an independent woman and make your mark in this world.

M.L.T.S.: What mark. product for fall are you most excited about?

KH: This would have to be mark.’s Calmed and Composed Super Soothing Moisturizer. During the fall/winter I tend to get extremely dry skin; this is why it is VERY important to switch over my daily moisturizer. I concentrate on the redness+ dry flaky skin+ dullness that I get when the fall comes around.
