Continuing To Stand With Planned Parenthood

Today, the U.S. Senate is back in session and they’re ready to attack Planned Parenthood. Here’s the situation as described in an email to supporters sent by Planned Parenthood’s President Cecile Richards:

“The anti-choice zealots in Congress have made their mission clear. Their plan is to drag out this fight for so long that we’ll lose hope, lose courage, and lose determination…

“Right now, the government is only funded for the next two weeks. That means that by April 8, there will be another series of votes, and anti-choice legislators are determined to force through radical legislation to bar Planned Parenthood from federal funding and cut women off from birth control, HIV testing, cancer screening, and other lifesaving care. And if Congress can’t agree to a final budget by then, we might even see a shutdown of the federal government.”

Of course, there are steps you can take to support Planned Parenthood. Here are the ways you can help, straight Richards’ email:

1. April 8 is the deadline for Congress to pass a budget bill, and we will be out in force to make sure this bill does not bar Planned Parenthood health centers from receiving funding that saves lives. Find out how you can take part, RSVP and spread the word using our Facebook event. Not on Facebook? Click here to get the details.

2. Call your senators. It’s up to the Senate to stop the assault on Planned Parenthood and women’s health — and it’s up to you and me to make sure they do. Dial 202-559-1164 or click here to be directly connected to the correct senator’s office. Tell your senators to vote NO on any legislation that targets Planned Parenthood and women’s health.

3. Make a gift to Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The work that lies ahead of us as the bill moves to the Senate for consideration is nothing short of astonishing. We need your help to rise to this incredible challenge.

You don’t have to do it all, but every bit counts.
