For those of us enrolled at state schools, state budget crises have us gnawing our nails while legislatures threaten to, or have already, cut funding to our institutions.
“In California, this has meant enormous increases in tuition,” New York Times reporter Ron Lieber wrote. “In Georgia, the beloved Hope scholarship that covered many educational costs for academically qualified students will be less generouscome autumn. And in November, Tennessee stopped letting new participants into a plan that allowed parents to lock in tuition prices for their children.”
If you’d like to take action and urge your state legislators not to support these budget cuts, go here and click on the name of your state. This will direct you to your state legislature’s website and should provide you with the means to get in touch with them.
