Rent The Runway Somehow Gets It Right; Gap Struggles to Rebrand

Rent The Runway Popular Among College Crowd: “This is fertile ground for Rent The Runway, a year-and-a-half-old company that rents designer dresses and jewelry to women—and increasingly, to girls. College campuses—and even a few elite prep schools—make up roughly 25% of the company’s business and are a big source of its growth.” (WSJ)

The only downside to RTR is that the sizing runs small. We curvier girls aren’t able to shop RTR unless we plan on spending $225 to rent a Judith Leiber bag. We hate that fashion is so sizist, don’t you?

Gap Seeks Fresh Image: “Gap has been struggling for years to figure out how to attract younger consumers as well as win back those who have stopped shopping there.” (NY Times)

The article says there hasn’t been a successful ad campaign since the 1990s. We wonder how they could possibly forget our favorite — the Sarah Jessica Parker campaign? Anyway, we’re digging Gap’s looks this season. Are you?
