In the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Audrey Hepburn wears a gorgeous Givenchy-designed black dress, pearls and a pair of cat’s eye sunglasses. The dress, which was worn by Natalie Portman on the cover of Harper’s BAZAAR in 2006, gets all the attention. But we’re looking at those sunglasses.
Cat’s eye frames were highly popular in the 1950s and 1960s, before the bug-eye Jackie O. style became popular in the 1970s. Cat’s eyes are hot again. We’re particularly loving the pair on the model above.
Available at Smak Parlour (219 Market St.), are these $14 Mia Sunnies. The reason we love this pair so much are the modern lines of the arms and the detailing on the top part of the plastic frames. They’re old-fashioned glamor for the modern girl. – Rosella Eleanor LaFevre
