Marigold aka Calendula is one of the best multipurpose remedies that I’ve come across in a long time. The best way I can describe it is that it’s incredibly healing and soothing to whatever it touches. It serves as an anti-inflammatory agent as well as a cleanser for the liver, gallbladder and other organs. The best part? No side effects.
Top 3 Reasons Calendula (Marigold) Is Awesome
1) Taken orally, it can relieve stomach ulcers and menstrual cramps.
2) When applied to the skin, it can heal minor burns, (including sunburn), eczema and wounds. It also works for chaffing from running and razor burn!
3) Calendula is also known to alleviate earaches, sore throat and conjuctivitis (pink eye).
So, what’s the best way to get your hands on this wonder-plant? My favorite way to use it is in the ointment form which is a steal at only about $4 for a 1 oz. tube. Warning: the ointment is thick and oily and could trap dirt, so make sure the area is clean before you apply it. It’s also possible to make tea by boiling the flowers.
