There’s a scene in the first episode or two of Mad Men, where the new girl in the office goes to the doctor for contraceptives. The doctor examines her lady parts and then agrees to put her on the pill — provided she doesn’t become a loose goose. How much did he say she’d have to pay for the pill? Eleven dollars.
In a recent decision, the government decided that women should be given access to birth control and other preventative services (including the morning-after pill), free of charge. The new rules are “historic,” if you ask the Department of Health and Human Services, and “smart” if you ask us here at M.L.T.S.
We’re just waiting for right-wing pundits to bring up the “floozy” thing.
